I am a multidisciplinary performance artist. My practice departs from a theatrical approach and emerges into an experimental visual experience. I use the performative body as the main pillar of my work and merge light and set design to create my narrative and address my questions.
I got my bachelor's degree in "Acting" from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus-Syria in 2013. I worked professionally as an actor/performer on a variety of projects with different partners.
In 2016, I started making my own productions. Departing from my fascination with body and movement, I worked on a series of Physical-theater performances. Through this work, I tried to portray and find a visual form for a set of intangible places. I was interested in the realms that occupy the human brain during catastrophes, The half imaginary parallel worlds that create a balance with harsh daily surroundings. Dreams, the Afterlife, and Utopia were the three main themes that I tried to tackle during the last few years. I was interested in the complex nature of these worlds, and how tangible and imaginary they are at the same time. And how this fluid form can affect and be affected by politics, economy, and culture.
